The Champblanc project is particularly innovative. It stands out because we developed it with a group of residents organised into an association. The aim was to create a shared living space for 18 families, including some volunteer firefighters whose station had been transferred a few kilometres away to a neighbouring commune. However, the town of Décines did not want to lose these ‘rescue families’ and supported the project by offering a subsidised price for the land.
The concept included 6 semi-detached houses and 12 flats in a small collective, as well as various communal areas, including a multi-purpose room for meetings and social gatherings and a guest room, which were to be managed by the association.
The group of residents also planned to carry out the finishing work themselves, which should cut costs by around 20%. Unfortunately, the banks did not support such a project, so it had to be abandoned after a great deal of joint effort.
