The building in Vienne, listed as a heritage site, has been abandoned for more than 20 years. It is located in the Gère valley, a stigmatised and disaster-stricken district since the deindustrialisation of the textile industry. Nevertheless, we perceive the building as a positive virus for the whole neighbourhood, inspiring more social intensity. Beyond the savings in CO 2 , by choosing to rehabilitate, the intention is to transform the feeling of abandonment into one of desire. Rehabilitated to last, the building plans to accommodate new functions for the benefit of the neighbourhood: housing, a co-working office space and a multimedia room. The housing can be converted into offices and vice versa. The vegetation of the project has been carefully thought out to get the best out of it. The plants are chosen to regulate the indoor air: hygrometry, perceived temperature and cooling effect by evapotranspiration. Part of the roof is planted with vegetation and contributes to the fight against the natural risk of rocks falling from the hill by absorbing their fall. And finally, part of the vegetated surfaces of la grünboX-Vienne will be suitable for urban agriculture, a field of experimentation for the improvement of urban resilience and the beauty of the living environment.

This project, which is currently underway, was awarded the 2nd international prize SMART CITIES 2017, in the HABITAT category, by  the newspaper LE MONDE
